Critical Skills Occupations List

ICT (software developers, cybersecurity, data engineers, cloud architects, ML/AI engineers), engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical), healthcare (medical consultants, radiographers, nurses, pharmacists), finance (actuaries, risk analysts, investment analysts), construction professionals and quality-controlled trades. The list is updated periodically by DETE.

Salary bands 2026

EUR 38,000 (with relevant degree in a role on the Critical Skills List) or EUR 64,000 (any role not on the Ineligible List, without matching degree). Salary is basic annual excluding bonuses. Verify current thresholds — DETE updates them via SI regulations.
