Karta Pobytu work permit — Europe's fastest-growing jobs market

Overview
Poland has become the fastest-growing European destination for Indian workers, driven by a booming manufacturing, IT services, logistics and construction sector. Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Gdansk and Poznan are all major hubs. Poland's Karta Pobytu framework provides a clear 3-year renewable residence permit that leads to EU Long-Term Residence in 5 years.
Poland issues work permits in Type A (standard employer-based), Type B (management board), Type C (intra-company transfer), Type D (contract-based) and Type E (other) categories. Type A is by far the most common for Indian workers.
Indian IT services companies (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Capgemini, HCL) have large delivery centres in Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw. Manufacturing recruitment through LG, Samsung, Bosch, ArcelorMittal, Volkswagen and Amazon is equally strong.

Poland has quietly become the second-largest European employer of Indian workers after Germany. The combination of EU membership, strong economic growth (>3% GDP), lower cost of living than Western Europe, English-speaking IT services delivery hubs, and a straightforward Karta Pobytu residency path makes it exceptionally attractive for both white-collar and blue-collar Indian workers.
For Indian IT professionals, Krakow and Wroclaw offer a European salary and living standard at roughly 60% of the German cost. For blue-collar workers, Poland's manufacturing boom offers a genuine EU entry point that leads to Long-Term Residence and eventually citizenship.
Not any more. The 2025 Foreigners Act amendments have simplified work permit processing to 30-60 days at the Voivode office, and the Polish Consulates in Delhi/Mumbai issue D-visas typically within 4-6 weeks.
For IT delivery centre roles, no — English is the working language. For manufacturing, logistics and hospitality, basic Polish A1-A2 significantly improves your placement and integration.
3-year Karta Pobytu → 5 years of continuous residence → EU Long-Term Residence → 10 years of residence → Polish citizenship (with B1 Polish language).
